Why Is the Light Flashing on a Friedrich Air Purifier?

Most modern air purifiers will come with some sort of indicator light. The Friedrich air purifier is not an exception in that regard.

But if you do not know what the indicator light is there for, you will not be capable of getting the most out of it. And when it turns on, you will wonder why.

So, why is the light flashing on a Friedrich air purifier? Well, this indicator is directly connected to the air quality sensor. And it will start to flash when something is wrong with the filters.

But there are different stages. Each has its own meaning. Want to know about them? Continue reading this guide!

What Does the Flashing Light Mean on Friedrich Air Purifier?

The primary task of the indicator light on the Friedrich air purifier is to indicate the filter’s condition. It offers meaningful information about the air quality and tells you when you should change the filter.

But, as we have mentioned, there are different types of filter alerts. And here is the meaning for each:

Filter Alert Flashing on Its Own

The filter light might flash on its own. That is, without any additional sound or anything. This flashing light indicates that the filter of the Friedrich air purifier is about to end its lifespan.

In other words, the filtration unit has pretty much near the full capacity for collecting dust and pollutants from the air.

That said, it does not mean that you need to change the filter immediately when you see this stage of flashing light. You can still use the filtration unit.

But when you see this type of filter alert, you should get a replacement filer ready. Yes, this alert indicates that you should order yourself a filter replacement right away.

Filter Alert Along with a Buzz

After the first alert, you will notice this alert after using the air purifier for a couple of days. This alert will come with a buzzer sound that will activate after every 30 minutes.

And this indicator is basically letting you know that you should change the filtration unit as soon as possible.

On that note, if you have changed the filter on the first alert, this second alert will not show up. This one states that the filter unit is totally at its full capacity. You will be capable of running the air purifier, but it will not be capable of purifying the air properly.

What Will Happen If You Do Not Change the Filter After the Second Alert?

Both the flashing light indicator states that you need to change the filter. While the first alert lets you know that the filtration unit is relatively weak, the second tells you that the filter has ended its lifespan.

The second alert will be there for a reasonable amount of time, and the buzzing will activate every 30 minutes if you do not replace the filter.

But if you do not change the filter after the second alert, the device will enter the filter replacement lock stage. In this stage, the air purifier will not work anymore.

Now, to make the device get out of the filter replacement lock stage, you need to replace the filter and reset the filter alert.

How to Replace the Filter of Friedrich Air Purifier?

You should change the filter of the air purification device right after seeing the first alert. And to replace the filtration unit, you need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Turn the Device Off

Before doing anything with the device, you should turn the air purifier off. To do so, you just need to press and hold the on/off button for about five seconds. After that, unplug the power cord from the main outlet.

Step 2: Take the Old Filter Out

To get the old filtration unit out of the device, hold the front cover and open it by pulling it down and towards you. You should be capable of seeing the filter right after taking the front cover out.

Also, on the inside of the door, there are instructions on how to remove the filter. Refer to those if you have to.

After seeing the filter, pull the filter out of the housing by carefully lifting it and pulling the bottom portion towards you.

Step 3: Install the Replacement Filter

You should not place the new filter right away. Before doing so, take out the filter grip. It will take a little pulling force, but you should be capable of taking it out easily.

Then, put the replacement filter inside the housing and ensure that the carbon filter is sitting correctly in the cassette.

On that note, before you close the cassette, ensure the replacement filter is sitting properly. Ensure that the latches are in place. Then, put the filter grip back in place.

Without that, the new filter will not have the right sealing. Also, you should not put too much force when putting the grip in place. Otherwise, you might damage it.

Step 4: Reset the Filter Light and Turn the Air Purifier on

Once you are done with putting the new filter in, you need to reset the air purifier filter notification. To do so, you must press the remote’s reset button.

Hold it for at least two seconds. On the other hand, you can reset the filter light by pressing and holding the button on the air quality sensor inlet. Hold it for at least 2 seconds.

If you have successfully reset the filter light, the flashing or flashing with buzzing sound should go away. Also, the reset will make the buzzer sound go off one time. That indicates a successful reset. After that, you will be capable of using the air purifier normally.

Final Words

So, why is the light flashing on a Friedrich air purifier? In short, it states that you need to change the filter.

Also, you should know that the flashing light has two stages. The first one is just the light flashing, while the second one will make a buzzer sound after every 30 minutes.
